Day 6, Sunday, May 28, 2023
Today was supposed to be race day BUT, the rain got in the way again. We knew from the minute we woke up today it was a possibility that the rain would delay the race to Monday but we were still holding out hope. I think we spent the majority of the day looking at weather radars and checking Twitter every few minutes for updates. Of course, there were a few naps thrown in and a lot of book reading too.
The rainy day wasn’t a total wash though. We had plenty of time to cook a good pancake breakfast and I was able to use the day to find a laundromat. When you are traveling with 5 people for 2 weeks the issue is not necessarily having enough clothes to wear but instead, it becomes storing all the dirty clothes. So, I spent the morning with Macy & Logan at a local laundromat.
When it was finally announced that the race was postponed to tomorrow we decided we’d had enough staring at each other in the camper. So, what did we do? We walked around Walmart for 30 minutes just to get out! Then, to top it off, Johnny decided he needed a quick run to finish his night. Now we wait and hold out hope that we wake up to sunny skies, or at least dry skies tomorrow!
