What’s The Plan?

The plan is to tow our 2014 Rockwood 8312ss “Rocky” over 1300 miles round trip through the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, North Carolina and Kentucky with our tow vehicle “Bullwinkle”. “Bullwinkle” is a 2016 GMC 2500HD SLT with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine coupled to a 6 speed Allison Transmission (my everyday driver by the way). “Rocky & Bullwinkle” have taken us on trips to Walt Disney World in 2017, to multiple National Parks in Wyoming and South Dakota on the Great American Adventure in 2018, as well as multiple trips to Branson, MO and to Gulf State Park in Alabama. We love our rig and set up, and we love taking our bikes along with us.

Our route on this trip takes us to Nashville for a couple of nights where we will explore many of the sights and sounds of Nashville, TN. Next we will move over to Pigeon Forge, TN where we will explore the Great Smoky Mountain National Park! This will be our 7th National Park (including our favorite HSNP). We’re looking forward to seeing Clingmans Dome, hiking on the Application Trail, seeing the many beautiful waterfalls and of course the views that give the GSMNP it’s name, as well as biking in Cades Cove. Aside from the National Park, we’re planning a whitewater rafting trip on the Pigeon River. We’re also planning on exploring the towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Our last leg of the trip will take us up into Kentucky, where we will visit our 8th National Park, the Mammoth Cave National Park. I’m personally not really a “cave person”, but we’re going just to get the stamp in our National Park Passport book :-). I’m sure it’s beautiful there, and I am excited about seeing the rolling hills of Kentucky.

Follow along as Kira blogs everyday. I’m not really a “blogger” so this post will probably be the first and last for me.
